2017 WORKS
MINDS EYE
9x12in
alcohol markers
In this piece, I wanted to convey a little bit of myself and who I am. What my interests are and what I struggle with. It is subtle, but I wanted to compare the good and bad in me with the colors, the blackness of the thoughts representing the dark in my life.
TARGET PRACTICE
12x9in
alcohol markers, watercolor
This piece was a reaction to the current crisis that is the rise in school shootings. I wanted to convey that now, more than ever students who came to school to learn, are being shot down with something that could have been illegal to possess in the first place.
MACBETH
12x9in
alcohol markers
This piece was my submission to the Denver Shakespeare Festival. The prompt was Macbeth, so I took in my own hands to try and put the entire story on one piece of art. I wanted to emphasize that Macbeth was controlled by the story he was told by the witches, and without that prophecy, the story would have played out much differently.
TO THE BEYOND
12x9in
watercolor
This piece was experiemnental, as I wanted to try a different style in a media that I was not 100% comfortable in. I like painting stylized eyes and the effect I can make when drawing melting/floating things and the motion it can convey.
LEAVES
10x10in
watercolor, colored pencils
This was an experimental piece I did without reference. I wanted to work with different values of watercolor and ended up adding some colored pencil in the same shade of some of the watercolor.
BOATHOUSE
10x14in
watercolor
This was a Plein air painting I did of a boathouse at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. I wanted to capture the serene forest and the warm summer air in this piece. I hold this place deep in my heart and tried to give the beauty and lights of the forest justice.
